Community Leadership Award

The Department of Physics formally recognizes students who make significant efforts to strengthen and enhance our community of scholars and researchers through the Physics Community Leadership Award.  This award is given in cases of exceptional student contributions towards making the department a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all, consistent with the values of our department. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a dedication to leadership, and/or the ability to create a setting in which the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are respected and promoted. The Physics Community Leadership Award, which includes a check for $300, will be announced at the Physics graduation ceremony. Nominations for the Award may come from anyone in the departmental community.  The Award is open to undergraduate and graduate students of any year.  Nominations consist of a letter of support that describes the nominee’s significant contributions toward improving our departmental community and should be sent to   ( @virginia.edu ), Physics Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, by 16 April.
